Caramelize apples in butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for a sweet, tender topping for porridge or pork chops.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 4 large tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 0.5 cup cold water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Heat up a generous amount of butter in a large skillet or saucepan on medium heat until it turns into a golden liquid.
  • Cook apples, stirring constantly, until they are nearly tender, for 6 to 7 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together water and cornstarch until smooth; pour over apples. Add brown sugar and cinnamon, then bring to a gentle boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve the dish warm after taking it off the heat.
