Scalloped Turnips

Creamy baked turnips with onions, seasoned and baked until golden brown.
Ingredients:
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced onions
  • 4 cups peeled, thinly sliced turnips
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and generously butter a 1-quart casserole dish.
  • In a skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter and gently cook the onions until softened.
  • Create a delicious casserole by layering in the following order: one-third of the sliced turnips, one-third of the onions, 2 teaspoons of flour, 1/3 teaspoon of salt, a sprinkle of pepper, and little dollops from 1 tablespoon of butter. Repeat this process twice for ultimate flavor.
  • Combine the milk and cream, then drizzle the mixture over the turnips.
  • Bake: Cover and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for 30-45 minutes until tender and bubbly.
