Crispy fried cube steaks with a hint of tangy lemon, a cherished family recipe from Germany.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In one shallow bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper. In another shallow bowl, whisk together milk and eggs using a fork.
  • In a generously oiled skillet on medium-high heat, dip cube steaks in egg and milk, then coat with flour and add to the skillet.
  • Sear steaks until golden brown on both sides, then cook over medium heat until well done. Finish with a drizzle of lemon juice before serving.
