Indoor sear-and-blast method for juicy steaks in a cozy cast iron skillet.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (8 ounce) strip steaks
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Season steaks with garlic powder, salt, and pepper for maximum flavor.
  • Preheat your exhaust fan. Heat oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until smoking, for 4 to 6 minutes. Sear steaks in the hot oil for approximately 3 minutes.
  • Flip the steaks and place the skillet in the hot oven. Bake until the steaks are slightly firm with a warm pink center, approximately 6 minutes. Use a thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Allow the steaks to rest for 1 to 2 minutes before slicing and serving.
