Wholesome molasses pie with brown sugar crumble filling, topped with a buttery crust. Perfect with whipped cream or ice cream.
Ingredients:
  • 1 prepared 8 inch pie crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.66666668653488 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 0.66666668653488 cup hot water
  • 5 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine flour, 2/3 cup brown sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Add butter or margarine and mix until mixture resembles rice. Set aside 3 tablespoons for topping the pie.
  • Combine hot water, molasses, dark brown sugar, and baking soda in a separate bowl. Mix this molasses mixture into the remaining crumb mixture. Pour the mixture into the pastry shell and sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes until the top bounces back when touched. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
