Indulgent holiday cookies perfect for Christmas baking.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Combine all the ingredients by hand until well mixed, then form the mixture into 1-inch balls.
  • Place cookie dough on ungreased sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 20 minutes.
  • Allow the cookies to cool for 10 minutes, then gently lift them with a spatula onto cake racks to continue cooling. Store them in an airtight container with wax paper between layers to keep them fresh.
  • Enhance the appearance and flavor of the cookies: - Flatten some balls with a fork and add a quarter of a red or green glace cherry to the center. - Create a thumbprint in some balls and add a small amount of jam, jelly, or marmalade. - Dip some balls in beaten egg white, then coat with finely chopped walnuts. - Bake as is, or if desired, make an indentation on top and fill with a dollop of jam or marmalade. - Dip a few balls in egg white and roll in desiccated coconut. - Bake as is, or if preferred, make an indentation and fill with jam, jelly, or marmalade.
