Buttery sour cream scones filled with plump raisins. Ideal for tea time or a luxurious brunch.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, frozen
  • 0.5 cup raisins (or dried currants)
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions:
  • Prepare all ingredients for a culinary masterpiece.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and position the rack in the lower-middle position. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Grate butter into the mixture using a box grater, then use your fingers to blend it in until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Add in the raisins.
  • Combine sour cream and egg in a small bowl and whisk until smooth.
  • Combine the sour cream mixture with the flour mixture using a fork until large dough clumps form. Then, use your hands to shape the dough into a ball, it might seem dry initially but will come together as you knead it.
  • Transfer the dough onto a dusted surface and shape it into a 7 to 8-inch circle, 3/4-inch thick. Sprinkle with the remaining teaspoon of sugar.
  • Cut the mixture into 8 equal triangles using a sharp knife, then arrange them on the baking tray, ensuring they are spaced about 1-inch apart.
  • Bake scones in the preheated oven until golden, for about 15 to 17 minutes. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.
  • Indulge and savor!
