Delicious slow cooker shredded chicken in savory gravy, versatile for pairing with biscuits, mashed potatoes, stuffing, or as a pot pie filling with vegetables.
Ingredients:
  • 6 (6 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 9 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a slow cooker, mix together the chicken, water, bouillon, rosemary, sage, garlic salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
  • Slow cook until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear, approximately 4 hours. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  • Shred the chicken using 2 forks and let it simmer in the slow cooker on Low heat.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour until a light golden brown paste forms, about 5 minutes. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Season with salt and remaining pepper, then cook until gravy thickens, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Mix the savory gravy with tender shredded chicken, creating a delectable dish ready to be enjoyed.
