Versatile and flavorful sweet and sour sauce perfect for marinating or dipping.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks with juice
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.25 cup rice vinegar
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
  • Combine pineapple chunks, juice, 3/4 cup water, rice vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer until pineapple is tender, approximately 20 minutes.
  • Transfer the pineapple mixture to a blender, making sure it's no more than half full. Cover, hold down the lid, and pulse a few times before blending. Pour the blended mixture back into the saucepan and bring it to a simmer.
  • In a bowl, combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the sauce. Increase heat to medium and cook the sauce, stirring, until thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes.
