Delicious honey whole wheat bread with rich flavor and perfect texture, made easily with simple steps.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 0.667 cup honey, divided
  • 5 cups bread flour
  • 5 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4 cups whole wheat flour, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Assemble all the ingredients.
  • Combine warm water, yeast, and 1/3 cup of honey in a large bowl until fully dissolved.
  • Stir in 5 cups of bread flour until well mixed.
  • Allow it to rest for 30 minutes, or until it becomes large and bubbly.
  • Combine the luscious melted butter, the sweet remaining 1/3 cup of honey, and a touch of salt. Gently fold in 2 cups of wholesome whole wheat flour.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and gently incorporate the remaining 2 cups of whole wheat flour through kneading.
  • Knead the dough until it gently pulls away from the work surface, adjusting with more whole wheat flour if needed. The dough should feel slightly tacky but not overly sticky.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, ensuring it is coated all over with the greased surface.
  • Cover the dough with a cozy dish towel and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Prepare three 9x5-inch loaf pans by greasing them. Deflate the dough and shape it into 3 loaves.
  • Place the dough in the loaf pans and let it rise until it reaches the top of the pans, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C. Bake the loaves until golden brown, for 25-30 minutes avoiding overbaking.
  • Brush the tops of the loaves with the remaining melted butter to keep the crust soft.
  • Allow the dish to cool completely before indulging in its deliciousness!
