Enhance fruity taste in healthier whole grain bars with fewer calories and less saturated fat.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 3/4 cup Cascadian Farm® organic raspberry fruit spread
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cover an 8-inch square pan with foil. Combine flours, sugar, butter, and egg white in a large bowl, and mix with an electric mixer on low speed until crumbly.
  • Set aside 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping. Press the rest of the crumb mixture firmly onto the bottom of the pan. Spread the fruit spread leaving a 1/2 inch border. Sprinkle the reserved 1/2 cup crumb mixture over the top and add a layer of walnuts for extra crunch.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool fully for about 1 hour. Cut into bars by slicing into 6 rows by 4 rows.
