Spicy lean beef chili with hearty beans, perfectly seasoned for a quick and satisfying weeknight meal. Ready in under an hour!
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground beef (at least 90% lean)
  • 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) Muir Glen™ organic no salt added diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 jar (16 oz) Muir Glen™ organic mild or medium salsa
  • 1 can (15 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ dark red kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ black beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • Reduced-fat sour cream, if desired
  • Chopped green onions, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a 4-quart nonstick Dutch oven, brown the beef and onion over medium-high heat until beef is cooked through. Drain any excess fat. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add all remaining ingredients, excluding sour cream and green onions, and stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Serve by garnishing individual portions with sour cream and green onions.
