Hearty Slovak haluski with buttery egg noodles and cabbage, perfect for Lenten meals. Pair with fish for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 0.5 cup salted butter
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 large head cabbage, shredded
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil a pot of lightly salted water. Cook the egg noodles until al dente, approximately 5 minutes. Drain.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over low heat. Sauté onion until softened and butter is golden brown, about 5 to 10 minutes. Add cabbage and coat well. Cover and cook until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper. Uncover and cook until cabbage begins to brown, about 5 to 10 minutes more. Enjoy!
  • Combine the noodles and cabbage in a bowl, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
