Tender slow-cooked beef neck bones in savory gravy, perfect over rice or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds beef neck bones, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour, divided
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, sliced into long pieces
Instructions:
  • Start by setting your slow cooker to the High setting.
  • Prepare the neck bones by trimming excess fat. Season them with cumin, allspice, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt, then coat with 1/4 cup of flour.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sizzle garlic in olive oil until aromatic. Turn up the heat to medium-high, then sear seasoned neck bones until golden on all sides.
  • Place the neck bones and drippings into the warm slow cooker, then pour in the beef broth and add the onion.
  • Cook on High for 1 hour, then simmer on Low for 4 to 6 hours to develop deep and rich flavors.
  • Place the neck bones in a dish. Sprinkle the remaining flour into the slow cooker and stir until well combined. Return the neck bones to the slow cooker and allow the gravy to thicken for 15 to 20 minutes.
