Root beer slow-cooked chicken thighs create mouthwatering sandwich filling.
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray's®), or more to taste
  • 8 (2 ounce) hamburger buns, split
Instructions:
  • Add the chicken to the slow cooker and generously pour the root beer over it. Let it cook on Low until the meat is tender enough to be shredded effortlessly, which usually takes about 6 to 8 hours.
  • Remove the cooking liquid and shred the meat using meat claws, two forks, or a large spoon. Mix in the barbeque sauce and keep warm in the slow cooker until serving.
  • Assemble meat onto burger buns and top with extra barbecue sauce to taste before serving.
