Tender pulled pork cooked in root beer with brown sugar and spices, perfect for sharing at gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (3 1/2) pound boneless pork shoulder
  • 8 fluid ounces root beer
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions:
  • Dry off the pork shoulder and place it in the slow cooker. Cover pork with root beer.
  • In a small bowl, blend brown sugar, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and oregano until well mixed. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the pork, gently rubbing it in until the entire surface is coated evenly.
  • Slow cook the pork for 5 hours until tender. Increase the heat to High and continue cooking for about 3 more hours, or until the meat easily pulls apart with a fork. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using 2 forks. Drizzle some cooking liquid from the pot over the pork to keep it moist.
