Melt-in-your-mouth slow cooker Asian beef with authentic teriyaki marinade. Easy prep, big flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 1.5kg piece blade or topside beef
  • 250ml (1 cup) beef style liquid stock
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) light soy sauce
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) mirin seasoning
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) cooking sake
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • 2 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • Toasted sesame seeds, to serve
  • Sliced green shallots, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat, sizzle the oil until it shimmers. Sear the beef, turning regularly, for 10 minutes or until beautifully browned. Gently shift the beef to the cozy slow cooker.
  • Combine the stock, soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger in a jug, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Pour the mixture over the beef, cover, and cook on Low for 8 hours or until the meat is very tender, turning occasionally.
  • Place the beef on a large plate, shred it coarsely using 2 forks, then return it to the slow cooker and coat it in sauce. Serve the beef on plates, garnish with sesame seeds and shallots, and enjoy with sliced chili and rice.
