Slow-cook brisket with homemade rub and barbeque sauce until tender.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 beef brisket (3 1/2 lb)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients, excluding the beef and barbecue sauce, in a small bowl. Massage the mixture onto the beef. Transfer the beef to a resealable plastic bag and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  • Place the beef in a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker and generously pour barbecue sauce over the top.
  • Cover and simmer gently on Low heat for 6 hours.
  • Turn up the heat to High and continue cooking for an additional 1 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily falls apart.
  • Drizzle with extra barbecue sauce before serving.
