Spicy-sweet slow-cooked nuts: perfect party snack!
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups whole cashews
  • 1 1/2 cups unblanched whole almonds
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
Instructions:
  • Prepare the slow cooker by spraying it with cooking spray. Combine cashews, almonds, and pecans in the slow cooker. In a separate small bowl, mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the nuts in the slow cooker. Stir until the nuts are completely coated.
  • Cover and cook on Low heat for 2 hours, remembering to stir after 1 hour. Lightly grease a sheet of waxed paper and spread the coated nuts in a single layer. Allow them to cool completely for about 2 hours.
