Effortlessly make flavorful Slow-Cooker French Onion Soup by sautéing onions, adding flour, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, pepper, and broth in a lined slow-cooker. Cook low and slow for a rich soup. Pair with Cheesy Broiled French Bread for a crowd-pleasing winter meal ready in 15 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • Reynolds™ Slow Cooker Liners
  • 3 cups sliced onions (3 medium)
  • 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) ready-to-serve beef broth
  • 8 slices French bread, 1 inch thick
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (3 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons grated or shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • Line the 5- to 6 1/2 -qt slow cooker bowl with a Reynolds™ Slow Cooker Liner, ensuring a tight fit along the bottom and sides, and pull the top of the liner over the rim of the bowl.
  • Combine onions and margarine in a lined slow cooker.
  • Cook covered on high heat for 30-35 minutes, or until onions start to lightly brown around the edges.
  • Combine flour, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and pepper. Stir the flour mixture and broth into the onions. Cook covered on low heat for 7 to 9 hours, or on high heat for 3 to 4 hours, until the onions are very tender.
  • For a delicious Cheesy Broiled French Bread, simply place a slice of bread on top of each bowl of soup and serve promptly.
