Spicy molasses chicken drummettes: A deliciously tender and flavorful slow-cooked dish.
Ingredients:
  • 30 chicken wing drummettes (about 4 1/2 lb)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup chili paste
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 medium green onions, sliced (2 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seed, toasted
Instructions:
  • Prepare a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker by spraying it with cooking spray. Preheat the broiler. Spray the broiler pan rack with cooking spray. Arrange half of the drummettes on the rack in the pan. Broil them 3 inches from the heat for 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are lightly browned. Transfer the drummettes to the slow cooker. Repeat the process with the remaining drummettes.
  • Combine soy sauce, vinegar, molasses, orange juice, chili paste, and brown sugar in a medium bowl. Pour the flavorful sauce over the drummettes and gently toss to coat them evenly.
  • Cook the drummettes covered on Low heat for 3 hours. Transfer the drummettes to a serving platter. Pour the sauce into a 1-quart saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer until thickened and reduced by half, approximately 10 minutes. Drizzle the sauce over the drummettes and sprinkle with onions and sesame seeds.
