Easy 3-ingredient holiday recipe for mouthwatering smoked turkey flavor without a smoker.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar-based curing mixture (such as Morton® Tender Quick®)
  • 0.25 cup liquid smoke, or more to taste
  • 1 (12 pound) thawed whole turkey, neck and giblets removed
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions:
  • Mix the curing mixture and liquid smoke in a bowl until it forms a paste. Spread the paste inside and outside of the turkey. Place the turkey in a resealable plastic bag and refrigerate for 24 hours.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Rinse the turkey thoroughly inside and out with cold water and then pat dry. Rub it with cooking oil and transfer it into an oven bag, ensuring ventilation by poking holes as per the manufacturer's instructions before placing the bagged turkey in a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Roast turkey in the oven at 350 degrees F for 1 hour, then lower temperature to 250 degrees F. Continue roasting until turkey is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, approximately 6 hours.
