Soft and moist sugar cookies made with sour cream. Roll thick, bake gently, and use fun cookie cutters for any occasion!
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
Instructions:
  • Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg, then set aside.
  • Combine butter and sugar in a large bowl and cream until smooth. Add egg, vanilla, and sour cream and mix until well blended. Gently fold in the sifted ingredients. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 8 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create your desired shapes and place the cookies 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
