Festive soft sugar cookies loaded with white chocolate chips, almonds, and dried cranberries, evoking the flavors of the holiday season.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2.25 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 5.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup slivered almonds, chopped
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 (6 ounce) package cherry-flavored sweetened dried cranberries (such as cherry-flavor Craisins®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Enjoy the anticipation of delicious aromas filling your kitchen!
  • In a large bowl, blend sugar, shortening, and butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Mix in eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and whisk together. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into the butter mixture until just combined. Fold in almonds, white chocolate chips, and dried cranberries into the dough.
  • Spoon dough onto baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between each. Bake until bottom edges turn light golden brown, for 10 to 12 minutes. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
