Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour a 9-inch round pan. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside for later.
  • Cream together the shortening and 1 cup of sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time. Alternate adding the flour mixture and sour cream, mixing until just incorporated. Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan. Combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the batter. Layer the rest of the batter and top with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool.
