Tender slow-cooked beef with zesty horseradish, piled high in fluffy buns - a delicious taste of the South.
Ingredients:
  • 4 lb boneless beef round steak, 3/4 inch thick, trimmed of fat, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup cola carbonated beverage
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 24 burger buns, split
Instructions:
  • In a large 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, place the beef then combine the rest of the ingredients, excluding the buns, and stir until well mixed.
  • Cover and cook on High heat for 5 to 6 hours to develop rich flavors and tender textures.
  • Take the beef out of the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Shred the beef using 2 forks, then return it to the slow cooker and mix it well. Cover and cook for an additional 20 minutes, or until the beef is heated through and moistened.
  • Use a slotted spoon to generously fill each bun with about 1/3 cup of the delicious beef mixture. You can keep the mixture warm for hours on Low heat setting.
