Wholesome strawberry and basil filling tucked into flaky crescent rolls for a quick, Southern-style cobbler.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups strawberries, hulled
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
Instructions:
  • Begin by preheating your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), then generously grease a 2-quart baking dish with 1 tablespoon of rich, creamy butter.
  • In a saucepan, gently bring together water, 1/2 cup sugar, and cornstarch until they simmer, while stirring constantly. Introduce strawberries and basil, ensuring they are well coated. Transfer the flavorful mixture to the baking dish and top with 1 tablespoon of butter cut into pieces.
  • Tear apart the crescent rolls and place them on the strawberries to your liking. Microwave a tablespoon of butter for about 10 seconds in a microwave-safe dish. Brush the melted butter over the crescent rolls. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake in the preheated oven uncovered until bubbly and golden for about 25 minutes. Cover with foil for the last 5 minutes to prevent overbrowning.
