Spiced Almond-Chocolate Crinkles

Indulge in festive chocolate almond spice cookies for Christmas.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • In a 3-quart saucepan, gently melt butter and chocolate together over low heat, stirring continuously until velvety. Take off heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Using a spoon, thoroughly mix the eggs into the chocolate mixture until smooth. Incorporate all remaining ingredients, excluding powdered sugar, until thoroughly combined. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to make it easier to work with.
  • Preheat oven to 300°F and prepare cookie sheets with cooking spray. In a small bowl, add powdered sugar. Form 1-inch dough balls and generously coat them with powdered sugar. Arrange the coated balls on the prepared cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 13 to 18 minutes until fully set, then promptly transfer to cooling racks.
