Spicy green bean salad with flavorful Chinese mustard sesame dressing for a quick and easy zingy side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard powder (such as Coleman's®)
  • 1.5 teaspoons cold water
  • 1.5 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions:
  • First, bring a pot of salted water to a lively boil. Toss in the green beans and cook uncovered until they turn vibrant green, roughly 3 minutes. Drain in a colander and promptly immerse in ice water for a few minutes to halt the cooking. Drain again and place in a sizable bowl.
  • Combine mustard powder and cold water in a small bowl to form a paste; then mix in vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, sugar, and salt.
  • Drizzle the zesty mustard mixture over the crisp green beans and gently toss until well coated. Allow it to chill for a minimum of 30 minutes before enjoying.
