Grilled steak tips with savory mushroom red wine sauce, perfect for beef lovers. Ideal with crusty bread for dipping.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 pounds sirloin tips, uncut
  • 0.5 (750 milliliter) bottle Burgundy wine
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans beef broth
  • 4 portobello mushroom caps, sliced
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Fire up the outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter until sizzling. Sauté shallot until see-through. Add mushrooms, cover, and cook until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Take out the mushrooms from the pan and set them aside. Deglaze the pan with 1 can of beef broth and Burgundy wine. Raise the heat and bring it to a boil. Let it boil until reduced by one-third.
  • Grill sirloin tips on preheated grill until cooked to your liking. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a plate and let them rest.
  • Once the sauce has reduced, mix in the remaining can of beef broth along with garlic and thyme. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until it resembles au jus. Thicken the sauce by whisking in flour until it reaches desired consistency. Adjust seasoning to taste. Lastly, stir in mushrooms and serve with the mushroom sauce spooned over the tips.
