Elevate steamed asparagus with a zesty blend of butter, garlic, lemon juice, and olives for a flavorful side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 4 pimento-stuffed green olives, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions:
  • Fill a saucepan with water just below the steamer insert. Bring the water to a boil, add the asparagus, cover, and steam for 6 to 9 minutes until it reaches your desired tenderness.
  • In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter. Stir in garlic and sauté until fragrant, around 2 minutes. Add olives and lemon juice; warm gently for 3 to 4 minutes, avoiding boiling. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside.
  • Transfer the cooked asparagus to a serving dish then generously drizzle with sauce. Sprinkle with fresh lemon zest for extra flavor and serve while still warm.
