Elevate sticky pork meatballs with aromatic Chinese five spice blend for a spicy warmth.
Ingredients:
  • 500g pork mince
  • 1 brown onion, coarsely grated
  • 24.40 gm oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) sriracha chilli sauce
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) honey
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) chicken style liquid stock
  • 100g baby spinach
  • 200g mixed tomatoes, halved
  • 4 baby cucumbers, halved lengthways
  • Steamed rice, to serve
  • Fresh coriander sprigs, to serve
  • Fried shallots, to serve (optional)
Instructions:
  • Mix together the mince, onion, oyster sauce, five spice, 2 tablespoons of sriracha, and 1 tablespoon of honey in a large bowl. Roll the mixture into tablespoon-sized balls.
  • Preheat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and coat with oil spray. Cook the meatballs in two batches, gently turning to preserve their shape, until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the stock, 2 tablespoons of sriracha, and 2 tablespoons of honey into the pan. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Arrange spinach, tomato, cucumber, and meatballs in serving bowls. Serve with rice and garnish with coriander and shallot, if desired.
