Elevate your cooking with flavorful plum pork kebabs - healthy and effortless.
Ingredients:
  • 247.50 gm plum jam
  • 65.63 gm soy sauce
  • 24.00 gm brown sugar
  • 1 star anise
  • 1kg diced pork
  • 400.00 gm doongara rice (see note)
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 6.00 gm sesame seeds, toasted
  • Steamed vegetables, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, mix jam, soy sauce, sugar, star anise, and 1/3 cup cold water. Stir constantly and bring to a boil until well combined. Lower the heat to simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened. Let it cool completely.
  • In a shallow glass or ceramic dish, lay the pork and pour over the plum sauce mixture. Toss it gently until well coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours, if possible.
  • Skewer the pork and set aside the leftover marinade. Grease a barbecue plate and heat it on medium heat. Grill the skewers, basting with the reserved marinade, flipping occasionally, for 6 to 8 minutes or until fully cooked. Note: Ensure the pork is thoroughly cooked before serving.
  • Cook the rice according to the packet instructions until it is tender. Drain it and then put it in a bowl. Add green onion and sesame seeds, season with salt and pepper, and gently mix everything together. Serve the skewers with the rice and steamed vegetables.
