Classic Chinese sticky pork ribs - a mouthwatering delight!
Ingredients:
  • 800g pork spare ribs
  • 4.60 gm peanut oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
  • 90.00 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • Thinly sliced green onion, to serve
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat oven to 250°C/230°C fan-forced. Place a wire rack in a roasting pan. Pat pork rind dry with paper towel and score with a sharp knife. 2. In a bowl, combine oil, 1 teaspoon five spice, and 1 teaspoon salt. Rub this mixture into the pork rind, then season with pepper. 3. Finally, slice between the bones into 3 pieces for cooking.
  • Arrange the pork, skin side up, on the prepared rack and roast until the skin crackles, about 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 200°C/180°C fan-forced and continue roasting for another 15 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, mix sugar, the rest of the five spice, and 1/4 cup cold water. Stir and cook for 5 minutes until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high and boil. Then, lower the heat to medium and simmer for 8 minutes until thickened.
  • Pour the flavorful sauce over the succulent pork, then top with fresh onion. Accompany with a side of delicious Asian coleslaw.
