Japanese stir-fried pork with ginger, daikon radish, sake, and mirin - a flavorful and easy weeknight meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 daikon radish, peeled and cut into 2-inch sticks
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sake (Japanese rice wine)
  • 1.5 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • 11 ounces pork fillet, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together daikon radish, soy sauce, sake, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and mirin. Add sliced pork and marinate for 5 minutes.
  • In a wok or large skillet over medium heat, sauté onion in vegetable oil until softened, for about 3 to 5 minutes. Add pork from the marinade and cook until browned all over, for about 3 to 5 minutes. Pour in the rest of the marinade, cover, and simmer until bubbling, for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
