Irresistible double-stacked cheeseburgers with tender patties, melty cheese, and a secret sauce. Perfect stovetop delight for your cravings!
Ingredients:
  • For the easy burger sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • For the burgers:
  • 20 to 24 ounces ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, optional
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 to 8 slices American cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Fresh lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
Instructions:
  • Prepare the burger sauce by mixing the sauce ingredients to your taste preferences, adding extra ketchup or relish according to your liking.
  • Divide the ground beef into eight 3-ounce balls for double cheeseburgers, four 5- to 6-ounce balls for single burgers, or a single, thin 4-ounce ball. Handle the beef gently and season the outside with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Shape the beef balls into even patties. Place each patty in the pan and press down gently with a small pan or skillet covered with foil to flatten. Aim for a very thin patty for double burgers and about 1/3-inch thickness for single burgers. Repeat with the remaining patties, reusing the same foil for each one.
  • Sear the patties: Cook the thinner double patties for 2 minutes or the thicker single patties for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip them, add cheese on top, and cook until the cheese melts, approximately 2 to 3 minutes. The patties will shrink slightly as they cook. Gently press with a spatula to reshape, being careful not to squeeze out the juices.
  • Begin the burger assembly by spreading 1 to 2 tablespoons of burger sauce on the bottom bun, then layer with lettuce. Add the cooked burger patty (or patties) on top, followed by sliced tomato and red onion. Serve immediately for a delicious burger experience!
