Elevate any dish with this luscious strawberry compote: a chunky fruit syrup perfect for yogurt, oatmeal, scones, or ice cream.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups strawberries, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, mix together chopped strawberries, sugar, balsamic vinegar, and salt until well coated. Allow the mixture to rest for about 10 minutes until the strawberries release their juices.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then lower the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are soft and the compote thickens, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, allow it to cool slightly, and serve warm or at room temperature. The compote will continue to thicken as it cools.
