Popular Stuffed Peppers recipe loved by all, tastes like cheeseburgers.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) Muir Glen™ Organic Tomato Sauce
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (3 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Prepare the bell peppers by cutting a thin slice from the stem end to remove the tops, then remove the seeds and membranes before rinsing them. If needed, trim a thin slice from the bottom of each pepper to ensure they stand upright. Place the peppers in a 4-quart Dutch oven and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook the peppers for about 2 minutes before draining them.
  • In a 10-inch skillet, sauté beef and onion over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is browned; then drain the excess fat. Add rice, salt, garlic, and 1 cup of tomato sauce; heat through.
  • Fill peppers with savory beef mixture, placing them upright in an ungreased 8-inch square glass baking dish. Drizzle the remaining flavorful tomato sauce over the peppers.
  • Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for about 15 minutes, or until the peppers are tender. Finish by sprinkling with cheese before serving.
