Create a sunny sunflower cake using Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ cake mix and frosting, perfect for chocolate enthusiasts.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 6 oz semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Vanilla Frosting
  • Green and yellow paste food colors
  • 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease and flour 2 (8-inch) round cake pans or use baking spray with flour. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions using water, oil, and eggs. Divide batter between pans. Bake and cool as directed for 8-inch round cakes.
  • 1. Microwave chocolate in a small bowl on High for 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Allow to cool for 5 minutes. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat butter until smooth. Gradually mix in powdered sugar on low speed until blended. Add melted chocolate, milk, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  • Place one cake on a serving plate with the rounded side facing down. Spread it with chocolate frosting. Add the second cake on top with the rounded side facing up. Frost the sides and top of the cake with the remaining chocolate frosting. Color 1/3 cup of vanilla frosting green and the rest yellow. Pipe the yellow and green frosting onto the cake to create a petal and leaf design. Finish by sprinkling chocolate chips in the center.
