Spicy mixed nuts coated in sweet syrup, oven-roasted to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 1 cup untoasted walnut halves
  • 1 cup untoasted pecan halves
  • 1 cup unsalted, dry roasted almonds
  • 1 cup unsalted, dry roasted cashews
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil and spraying it lightly with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix walnuts, pecans, almonds, and cashews. Add salt, black pepper, cumin, and cayenne; toss to evenly coat the nuts.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, and butter. Cook until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved, for about 1 minute. Pour the butter mixture slowly over the nuts and stir to coat them evenly.
  • Spread nuts onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Roast nuts in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until fragrant. Toss nuts in warm syrup to evenly coat, then spread them out in a single layer. Bake again until nuts are sticky and roasted, about 6 minutes. Let cool before serving.
