Sweet and sour meatball fusion - a delicious family favorite dinner!
Ingredients:
  • 750g lean beef mince
  • 1 small brown onion, grated
  • 250.00 ml fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 18.20 gm peanut oil
  • 440g can pineapple pieces in natural juice
  • 20.00 gm cornflour
  • 40.00 ml white wine vinegar
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 21.00 gm soy sauce
  • 20.80 gm tomato sauce
  • 3cm piece ginger, peeled, grated
  • thin egg or Hokkien noodles, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. In a bowl, mix together mince, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined. Roll the mixture into small balls using a tablespoon and place them on a large plate.
  • In a large, non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add one-third of the meatballs and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, shaking the pan gently to brown them evenly. Transfer the browned meatballs to an 8-cup shallow casserole dish. Repeat with the remaining two batches of meatball mixture.
  • Pour the pineapple juice into a bowl. Whisk in the cornflour until smooth. Mix in the vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, tomato sauce, ginger, pineapple pieces, and 1/2 cup water. Pour the sauce over the meatballs.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until meatballs are fully cooked and sauce has thickened slightly. Place noodles in serving bowls, top with meatballs and sauce. Enjoy!
