Elevate waffles with warm apple topping and crunchy almonds.
Ingredients:
  • 40g (2 tbsp) butter or margarine
  • 20g (1/4 cup) flaked almonds
  • 4 large Gala or medium Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1-2cm pieces
  • 53.60 gm golden syrup
  • Rinch ground nutmeg
  • 8 English-style waffles
  • 125mls (1/2 cup) thickened cream
Instructions:
  • Melt butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add flaked almonds and stir constantly until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towel and wipe out the pan.
  • In the same pan, melt the remaining 20g (1 tablespoon) butter or margarine over medium heat. Cook the apples, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes until tender. Add almonds, golden syrup, and nutmeg, and cook for another minute until combined. Keep the mixture warm and set it aside.
  • Toast the waffles until they are golden and crispy. Place them on serving plates and generously top with sliced apples and crunchy almonds. Serve with a dollop of creamy whipped cream to enjoy a delightful and satisfying breakfast treat.
