Crispy deep-fried squash with a sweet coating - a delicious treat for veggie lovers. Perfect as an appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 yellow squash, cut into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups shortening, melted
Instructions:
  • Let the squash sit for 5 minutes to release its natural juices. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a shallow bowl. Coat the squash slices with the flour mixture, shaking off any extra, and set aside for later.
  • Melt shortening in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Lay out the squash in the skillet in a single layer. Cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes, flipping once. Remove and drain on paper towels.
