Indulge in crispy, garlicky fried chicken coated in a sticky-sweet Korean sauce with ginger, soy sauce, and gochujang.
Ingredients:
  • 3 chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 0.25 cup cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chile paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 quart canola oil for frying, or as needed
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch
Instructions:
  • Prepare the chicken marinade by combining chicken, vinegar, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated, then marinate for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the sauce by mixing honey, vinegar, brown sugar, gochujang, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and black pepper in a pot over medium heat. Stir until well combined and bring to a gentle boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Fill a deep fryer with a luxurious 1-inch layer of oil and meticulously bring it to a perfect 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) temperature.
  • Once the oil is hot, put the cornstarch in a bowl and toss in the chicken until well coated.
  • Fry chicken in small batches until beautifully golden on each side for about 2 minutes.
  • Bring the oil to a sizzling 350 degrees F (175 degrees C. Deep-fry the chicken until it turns a beautiful deep golden brown, approximately 40 seconds per batch. Afterwards, transfer the chicken to the sauce pot.
  • Warm the sauce and chicken together over gentle heat for approximately 3 minutes until heated through.
