Create vibrant, multi-layered cupcakes using food coloring for a festive touch. Perfect for Valentine's Day or any celebration.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
  • 1.25 cups water
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 egg whites
  • 8 drops red food coloring
  • 2 drops raspberry candy oil
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare your muffin tin by lining it with paper cupcake liners.
  • Mix cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and egg whites on low speed for 30 seconds, then switch to medium for 2 minutes until the batter is smooth. Fill cupcake liners one-third full with the white batter and set aside.
  • Mix 4 drops of red food coloring into the batter until it turns a lovely shade of pink. Add in the fragrant raspberry oil. Transfer 1/3 of the pink batter into a resealable plastic bag and leave it aside.
  • Enhance the pink batter with additional food coloring until it transforms into a vibrant orange/red hue. Next, transfer the colored batter into a resealable plastic bag. Cut a corner off the bag and insert the open tip into the center of each white batter cup, gently squeezing in approximately two tablespoons of the red batter.
  • Cut the corner off the bag containing the pink batter, insert the open tip into the center of the red batter, and gently squeeze approximately 1 tablespoon of pink batter into each cup.
  • Bake the layered cupcakes in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let them cool completely before frosting.
