Quick and delicious spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce, ideal for authentic Italian dining, ready in just 45 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 can (29 ounces) pureed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • Water
  • 16 ounces uncooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta
Instructions:
  • Peel the garlic cloves and finely chop them on the cutting board with a knife.
  • Peel, wash, and pat dry the onion. Chop into small pieces on a cutting board using a knife until you have about 1/4 cup.
  • In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat for about 1 minute. Add the garlic and onion and cook for approximately 3 minutes, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the onion is tender. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  • - Use a can opener to unlock the can of tomatoes. - Empty the tomatoes into the saucepan with the garlic and onion. - Sprinkle in the basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. - Stir well with a spoon to combine. - Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. - Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce uncovered for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • While the sauce is simmering, fill a very large saucepan halfway with water and cover with a lid. Bring the water to a rapid boil over medium-high heat. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until the spaghetti is al dente.
  • Drain spaghetti in the colander, then serve with sauce.
