Elevate green bean casserole with fresh green beans in a sour cream sauce, topped with Swiss cheese and crispy corn flakes. Perfect for holiday feasts!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 8 ounces coarsely shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 cups corn flakes, crushed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Set up a steamer in a saucepan with water just below the steamer. Once boiling, steam green beans covered until slightly tender, for about 5 minutes.
  • Combine 2 tablespoons butter, flour, onion, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until smooth. Slowly mix in sour cream and cook until creamy, about 10 minutes. Fold in steamed green beans, then transfer everything to a 2-quart casserole dish. Top with Swiss cheese before baking.
  • Combine corn flakes and 2 tablespoons of melted butter in a bowl, ensuring the flakes are thoroughly coated; then, sprinkle this mixture over the layer of Swiss cheese.
  • Cook in the oven until the cheese is bubbling and the topping is golden brown, approximately 20 minutes.
