Tender skirt steak marinated in balsamic, oregano, and garlic, grilled with mushrooms for a flavorful churrasco dish.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grill seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 pound skirt steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
  • 0.25 cup water, or as needed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, grill seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the steak, ensuring it's evenly coated with the mixture. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight for maximum flavor infusion.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it sizzles; add meat. Cook uncovered until steak releases its liquids, 3 to 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and cover.
  • Cook the steak for 15 minutes, uncover, and flip. Add water to the skillet as needed to keep the steak moist. Cook until slightly firm, hot, and lightly pink in the center, about 15 more minutes. The internal temperature should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) when tested with an instant-read thermometer. Transfer the steak to a serving plate and reserve any liquid in the skillet.
  • In the skillet with reserved liquids, sauté the onion until softened for about 5 minutes. Lower the heat, then add mushrooms and cook until warmed through for about 5 minutes. Finally, pour the onion mixture over the steak.
