Elegant Upside Down Apple & Brie Tarts with brie, fig spread, and hot honey for a flavorful twist on a viral TikTok recipe, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup fig jam (such as Dalmatia) (from 1 [8.5-oz.] jar)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons extra-hot hot honey (such as Mike’s)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary, plus more for garnish
  • 1 medium (7 1/4-oz.) Gala apple, unpeeled and sliced lengthwise into 1/8-in.-thick slices
  • 3 ounces Brie, sliced into 12 (1/8-in.-thick) slices
  • 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed (from 1 [17.3-oz.] pkg. of 2)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
Instructions:
  • Prepare for culinary mastery by gathering all ingredients. Then, preheat your oven to 400°F and elegantly line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine fig jam, hot honey, and fresh rosemary in a small bowl and mix well.
  • Evenly distribute the fig mixture into 6 (3- x 2-inch) rectangles on parchment paper, using 1 teaspoon for each rectangle and ensuring there is a 2-inch space between them.
  • Layer 7 apple slices on top of each fig mixture rectangle, then top with 2 slices of Brie cheese.
  • Gently flatten the puff pastry sheet with your hands, then cut it into 6 (3 1/4 x 4 1/2-inch) rectangles, and pierce the pastry with a fork all over.
  • Lay a pastry rectangle on top of each fig-apple-Brie rectangle, gently stretching if needed, then press down to seal in the delicious fruit filling.
  • Use a pastry brush to coat each rectangle with beaten egg.
  • Bake in a hot oven until beautifully golden and flaky, for around 25 minutes, and tent loosely with foil after 16 minutes.
  • Serve immediately, with an extra drizzle of fig mixture and a sprinkle of rosemary, if you like.
