Upside-Down Apple Spiced Cake: A twist on the classic with fresh apples, walnuts, and brown-sugar sauce. Quick and delicious with Betty Crocker™ cake mix. Serve it upside down for a tasty surprise!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1 1/2 lb apples, peeled, chopped (3 large)
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ Spice Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt butter in a 13x9-inch pan in the oven. Stir in brown sugar and walnuts until combined, then add chopped apples.
  • Prepare cake batter according to the instructions on the box for a 13x9-inch pan, incorporating water, oil, and eggs. Spread the batter over the apples and walnuts in the pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool on a rack for 2 minutes, then gently run a knife along the sides of the pan to loosen the cake. Invert a heatproof serving plate onto the pan, then flip the plate and pan together to remove the cake from the pan. Serve the cake warm.
